The Friends aim to give support to the Museum
- by publicising their permanent and special exhibitions
- by offering voluntary assistance as required, and
- by making financial grants when possible for specific projects
and acquisitions.

The Friends organise a varied annual programme of educational
and social activities, including lectures and visits to places of historical
and military interest. They receive "The
Green Howard" twice a year informing them of talks, exhibitions,
and activities in a very progressive military museum.
"The Green Howard"
is especially valuable. Not only are Friends informed as above, but each
issue is devoted to presenting articles and research on a particular period
of history with which the Green Howards are associated.
Each issue is approximately 20 pages long, and is produced to a very high
standard. "The Green Howard"
is invaluable to students of military history, - or to anybody
who simply wants to find out a bit more about the military history of
a famous regiment!
The first issue of "The Green Howard"
was in September 2006. Previous to this, the Friends of the Green Howards
Regimental Museum produced a Newsletter,
which was devoted to a particular aspect of the regiment's history.
Past Newsletters have provided information
on;-
- The Raising of the Regiment
- The 19th Foot, 1738 - 1763
- The 19th Foot in the American War of Independence
- The 19th Regiment of Foot in the Crimea
- The 19th Regiment of Foot in India (1857-1877)
