On the left is the uniform of the North York Militia Rifles, reformed in 1856 and re-embodied as Light Infantry. On the right is a soldier kitted out for service in Afghanisatn in 2004; a video continually plays showing the Green Howards serving in Afghanistan.

The usual starting point for a tour through the Museum starts with the Raising of the Regiment in 1688. The Museum has artefacts going back to this date, including the musket shown here.
