THE GREEN HOWARDS LINK WITH CANADA ![]() The main lighting in the Normanby room is provided by three magnificent brass chandeliers. A Plaque above the main switches informs us that they were presented by the Green Howards affiliated Canadian Regiments (the Rocky Mountain Rangers and The Queen’s York Rangers (1st American) R.C.A.C) and placed in position in July 1973 during the conversion of the museum. The relationship between the Green Howards and the Rangers began in 1944. Upon arrival in England the Rangers were welcomed and hosted by The Green Howards and the two regiments were officially designated allied regiments in 1948. The relationship between the Rangers and the Green Howards continued beyond the Second World War and gifts by the Rangers to the museum and the Officers and Sergeants mess are testament to this warm friendship.
