PROPOSAL FOR BUS STOPS OUTSIDE OF THE MUSEUM TO BE REVIEWED
1st April 2010

Some of you will be aware that  the North Yorkshire County Council were proposing to place three bus stops and shelters outside of the museum. The Trustees objected to this proposal as it would have obscured the frontage of the museum. We are very grateful to all Green Howards who wrote to the County Council in opposition to this proposal.

Colonel Smeeton and Lynda Powell, Director/Curator attended the County Council meeting yesterday and were able to present the Trustees views to the Committee. Several County Councillors spoke in support of the museum and it was agreed that a decision would deferred to allow time for an alternative locations to be identified.

If you would like to look at the County Council report and proposal please follow the link -  https://www3.northyorks.gov.uk/n3cabinet_area/richmondshire_/reports_/20100331_/10richmondswale/10richmondswale.pdf. The minutes of the meeting will also be available on the County Council website in due course.

We will of course keep you up to date with any further developments.

Lynda Powell, Director/Curator
