Winners of the Intersection Lewis Gun Compeition - India

A few months ago we were asked by Mrs Elsa Pyne of Palm Springs, California to carry out research on Private Vernon Smith.  Although not an unusual name, we were able to find his enlistment details from our ledgers which range in date from 1903 to 1933.  We provided both personal details such as height, weight, age, eye and hair colour as well as military details on his time with the 2nd Battalion in India.

Mrs Pyne was very pleased with the information and by return has sent us photographs of Private Smith taken in India when he was a member of the winning team of the Intersection Lewis Gun Competition, which can be viewed in this news item.

We are very grateful to Mrs Pyne for taking the time and trouble to send these photographs to us all the way from America and hope that all her family will now be able to view them.
