THE SUN SHINES ON OUR PARADE
24th May 2010

Standard Bearers and members of the GHA march through Richmond

Once again we were blessed with glorious weather and the whole town seemed to be buzzing with anticipation and excitement.  The Green Howards were back home again.  Old comrades meeting and greeting each other and proudly marching through the streets of Richmond to regimental music played by the Heavy Cavalry and Cambrai Band.

Retired Cannon Richard Cooper gave an excellent sermon, remembering the fallen and without their sacrifice we might not enjoy the freedom in our own country compared with others less fortunate.

We had many visitors to the museum buying memorabilia and taking in our new exhibition on Afghanistan.   Old photographs were on display which caused amusement and much discussion on who was who and where and when they were taken.  We were given lots of names which we can now put into our photograph database.

Maj General Farquhar presented gold and silver badges in Friary Gardens and encouraged everyone present to make a note in their diary for next year when Colours of the Regiment will be laid up in St Mary's Church.
