RICHMOND SUNDAY 22ND MAY 2011 ![]() The Band of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers lead the Parade into Richmond Square In spite of a deluge of much needed rain, many hundreds of ex-Green Howards marched through Richmond to mark a significant event in the history of the Regiment. The Colours of the 1st and 2nd Battalion were paraded through the town before a Drumhead Service to be held in Richmond Castle grounds. Unfortunately, the unpredictable weather sent everyone inside the marquee for the Service, which began with Canon Richard Cooper reading the Regimental Bidding. The hymns Jerusalem and I vow to thee my country were accompanied by the Band of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. Everyone attending was treated to a bottle of beer specially labelled to mark the occasion as a memento. It was a very emotional and proud day for those who had served with the Colours with many comrades exchanging stories and memories. The Colours will take up their final resting place in the Regimental Chapel of St Mary's Church and the Drums will be found a place within the Museum. Many thanks and congratulations for a memorable day to the staff in the Area Headquarters. If you have any photographs of the day and would like to share them, you can either email the museum at museum@greenhowards.org.uk or add them to our Facebook page
