STUDENTS GO BEHIND THE SCENES AT THE GREEN HOWARDS MUSEUM ![]() The students from Bedale High School with Susan Langridge, Museum Assistant Two students from Bedale High School’s Year 10 have been finding out about the area’s military history as part of their work experience at the Green Howards Regimental Museum in Richmond. Scott Featonby and Duncan Dorward, both 15, chose to do their two-week placements at the Museum, where they are under the care of Museum Assistant Susan Langridge. They are learning about the running of the Museum, including how to input data into the computer from military records, to help with the many enquiries the Museum receives from people researching their family history. They are also seeing behind the scenes, where the Museum’s exhibits are conserved and stored, and learning something of the history of the Green Howards, which dates back to 1688. Susan Langridge says, ‘Scott and Duncan have been helping to input enlistment records, which has been a great help in enabling searches for family members who have served with the Green Howards. I hope it has also given them a taste of life in a small, modern museum and that they’ll come back and visit us again now they have found out how many fascinating exhibits we have in the Museum.'
